Estimators
Gain New Access To Tool Database NEW BERLIN, Wisconsin – A new interface links the
AutoTAS tool management system from Sandvik Coromant to Machine Shop Estimating
(MSE) from Micro Estimating Systems (Micro). With this interface, estimators
have access to a computerized tool management database that reflects the
company's true tool crib inventory. This
is the first joint product announcement for Micro and Sandvik since the 1999
agreement naming Micro as the exclusive North American distributor for AutoTAS.
The interface is available with the introduction of MSE 9.0. It provides the
opportunity for estimators using MSE to select tools for jobs directly from the
AutoTAS tool crib inventory. "This
interface gives estimators important information on the tools actually being
used in the shop. Instead of ordering redundant tooling, or costly specialized
tooling, when laying out a job in MSE the estimator now links directly to the
existing AutoTAS tool crib database," explains J. Tad Williams, Micro's
Manager of AutoTAS Sales and Support. "Knowledge management is a critical
factor in operating efficiency. Users of both systems can now leverage existing
resources across the enterprise, creating consistent tooling requirements from
the estimate through completion of the manufacturing process." Micro
Estimating Systems Inc., a subsidiary of OnCourse Technologies, Inc., develops
and markets high precision business software tools for estimating, process
planning, cost analysis, and methods analysis for CNC and manual equipment.
Micro is the exclusive North American distributor of Sandvik Coromant's AutoTAS
tool crib management software. For
